FRESHMEN SENDOFF

Every year, the Chapter hosts a Freshman Send Off event in mid-August to celebrate local high school seniors attending Penn State in the upcoming Summer or Fall Semester. The event includes food & beverages and is free to all members, students, and their families.

ANNUAL FRESHMEN SCHOLARSHIP

Every year, the PSAA Upper Chesapeake Chapter raises funds for a scholarship that is awarded to a freshman attending Penn State that is local to the Harford and Cecil Counties of Maryland. This money is set aside every year to help with the costs of their education at Penn State. The number and amount of each scholarship is dependent on the funds raised by the chapter each year.

In order to receive the one-time scholarship, students are required to participate in an essay contest, to be communicated to all local high school seniors in early July. Essays are anonymized and judged by the executive board to determine the winner(s). In order to participate in the contest, the following criteria must be met:

  • The student must be an incoming Freshman to the Pennsylvania State University, starting during the upcoming Summer or Fall semesters.
  • The student must reside in the Harford or Cecil Counties of Maryland.
  • The student must attend the Freshmen Sendoff Event where the scholarship will be awarded
